Now in its 5th year Beam and the Lit Fest team are looking forward to sharing a packed programme that celebrates reading and writing to inspire and enthuse audiences across the district. From Friday 23 September – Sunday 2 October Lit Fest will take place at locations throughout Wakefield – cafes, shops, venues, schools, community centres, historic buildings and libraries.
Past festivals have attracted star names in the literary world including Carol Ann Duffy, Joanne Harris, Will Self, Simon Armitage, John Cooper Clarke and Tracy Chevalier to name but a few.
Frances Smith, Principal Consultant at Beam said “We’re really excited about the festival this year, working with our fantastic festival partners our ambition is to bring a fresh and dynamic programme that truly offers something for everyone. Since Beam programmed the first festival back in 2012 the festival has gone from strength to strength and we’re looking forward to celebrating our 5th festival with all our supporters, festival friends and audiences – and hopefully welcome a few new faces along the way.”
This year’s festival will also have a refreshed look, watch out for a new visual identity for Wakefield Lit Fest 2016.
