Theatre Royal Wakefield’s New Genie-Us Panto Has Been Cast
Theatre Royal Wakefield have secured a magical cast for this year’s Chinese-style pantomime, Aladdin.
Chris Hannon will return once again as regular panto dame Widow Twankey. Joining him this Christmas will be Aladdin (Dean Bray), Jasmine (Melissa Rose), Abanazer (Chris Chilton), Wishee Washee (Danielle Bird), Djinn/Hanky Panky (Paul Hutton) and Empress (Beth Tuckey).
This magic carpet ride wouldn’t be complete without the established creative team behind previous successful pantomime productions such as Sleeping Beauty, Dick Whittington, Cinderella, Jack and the Beanstalk and Beauty and the Beast.
The cast have been invited to Wakefield prior to rehearsals to take part in a tour of the city, as they visit the some of the theatre’s generous sponsors. Photo stops will take place at Trinity Walk, Debenhams, Room 97, First Choice Recruitment and Westgate train station aboard a Virgin East Coast train.
Executive Director, Katie Town is looking forward to meeting the cast. ‘’Inviting the cast to Wakefield before rehearsals begin is an exciting time for us at Theatre Royal Wakefield. It’s a great opportunity for the cast to meet the team and the supporters of the pantomime.’’
The cast and creative team will be hard at work throughout November preparing for opening night on Thursday 23 November 2017, with the show running through to Sunday 7 January 2018.
