Team HARIBO Drum up Victory for Charity

The Laila Milly Foundation, the Wakefield-based organisation providing support for children with serious illness and their families, has received a treat from HARIBO – a cheque for £1,500.

The donation follows HARIBO’s success at the recent Osgoldcross and Elmet Rotary Club Dragon Boat Race, a sponsored event which saw their team beat tough competition to secure a first-place victory in an ornately decorated, 40-foot dragon boat to the sound of a beating drum.

In support of their efforts the HARIBO team drummed up a generous sum of sponsorship money that was kindly donated by friends and family in support of the Foundation.

Julie Beaman, Assistant Communications Manager, who presented the funds alongside colleagues that took part in the race, commented: “We’re so proud of the team who sacrificed their own time to take part in the race. It was great to see the team win which really topped off a fun-filled day, but raising such a great deal of money for a fantastic cause was the icing on the cake!”

Maya McCormack from the Laila Milly Foundation comments: “We’re over the moon to have received such a generous donation and would like to thank all those who contributed and, most of all, the team who set aside their time to help our cause. The funds really are a lifeline for us and help us to continue supporting families with seriously ill children to maintain some quality of life under such difficult circumstances.”
