Spawforths Win Top Residential Award

Wakefield based Planners and Architects, Spawforths, have been named as “Best Yorkshire Planning Practice” at the Yorkshire Residential Awards 2017.

Established in 1988, the company is now responsible for promoting over 50,000 new homes during 2017 with a development value of over £10 billion. “I am extremely proud of our dedicated, enthusiastic and creative team” said managing director Adrian Spawforth. “They have worked really hard and to win this award is great recognition of the effort they put in to promote our client’s development interests.”

Over the last 30 years, Spawforths have carried out over 4,000 development projects and shaped many of the major schemes across the North of England and Wakefield District. Wakefield schemes that the practice have been closely involved with over the years include the Wakefield Eastern Relief Road, the City Fields development for 2500 new homes, the Prince of Wales Colliery regeneration, the Glasshoughton Colliery regeneration (at M62 Junction 32), the Wakefield waterfront, the Nostell Estate, The Stanley Royd Hospital conversion into new apartments and the National Coal Mining Museum.

As architects and planners Spawforths work with a wide range of house builders providing social housing, private housing for sale and, most recently, have designed a £50 million factory which will produce new modular homes at a rate of 3000 homes per year. In addition, the company has a rapidly growing portfolio of commercial clients who are employing the practice to design a diverse range of industrial, education and retail developments.
