Pork Pie Shortlisted for the Deliciously Yorkshire Taste Awards

Despite facing stiff competition from a record number of entries, Eric Richmond’s small pork pie has been shortlisted in the Deliciously Yorkshire annual Taste Awards.

The judges, who included the celebrity BBC Radio 2 food critic Nigel Barden, as well as supermarket buyers, known for their attention to detail in every respect ate and drank their way through more than 350 entries to whittle the final lists down.

The pies were judged on quality, taste, proof of supply, provenance and ethical production as well as presentation. Entrants also had to prove that their ingredients were regionally sourced. Held in high regard by food and drink producers throughout Yorkshire, the awards attract entries from across the region, with entrants keen to demonstrate that their product is the best.

And it isn’t just the producers who are keen to take part, consumers are also attracted to Taste entries knowing that they can rely on the quality, taste and provenance of the goods that are shortlisted and ultimately win.

The winners will be announced at the annual Taste Awards dinner at the Harrogate Pavilion on November 2.
